What is Hoopla?
Hoopla is a digital media service available to Berkeley County Library System cardholders that enables customers to check out movies, videos, full music albums, graphic novels, and audiobooks. With Hoopla there is no waiting list, you can borrow any title in the collection by streaming online or by simply downloading the free Hoopla app available for the iPhone/iPad, Kindle Fire, and Android devices. How many Hoopla items can I borrow at one time?
With Hoopla there is no waiting list. Berkeley County Library System cardholders can borrow 5 titles per month from the Hoopla collection.

- Music – 7 days
- Audiobooks, ebooks, and comics – 21 days
Can a title be returned before the lending period expires?
You can return the title before the lending period has expired by clicking the return now button located at the bottom of the title on the title information page.
Please note that returning a title early does not give users additional borrows for that month.
If I return a title early, will I be able to check out another item?
The Berkeley Count Library System allows for 5 titles per month, not at a time. So if you decide to return a title early it will not allow another title in its place.
Are there any fees to use Hoopla?
No, Hoopla is a free service for all Berkeley County Library System customers.
Are titles downloaded onto my device or computer?
All titles are available for streaming on desktop or laptop computers and temporary downloads to a mobile device. Borrowed titles are only available for download on mobile devices, such as iOS (iPad, iPhone, iPod Touch) and supported Android phones or tablets.
What devices are supported by Hoopla?

Where can I find the Hoopla mobile app?
The hoopla digital mobile app can be found in the Google Play store on your Android device, and the Amazon Appstore on your Kindle Fire HDX tablet and other select kindles. Search for “hoopla digital” to find and download the app.
I have an SD card, can I download to that?
All hoopla digital downloads are stored in the hoopla digital app, and can’t be moved to an SD card on the device. We always recommend having plenty of free space on your device’s main memory.
How many times can a music album be borrowed?
Due to record label restrictions, hoopla allows users to borrow an album twice in a 30-day period.
When does the monthly(borrow) period end?
The monthly borrow limit resets at 12:01am on the first day of the new month.
Are there ads while I enjoy content on Hoopla?
There are no ads or commercials while enjoying content on Hoopla.
How often does Hoopla add new content?
Typically, Hoopla adds new content weekly, but we are constantly working with content providers to add content to hoopla’s offerings.
How can I use Hoopla on the TV?
Interested in watching Hoopla videos on your home television? Hoopla is presently compatible with both Apple TV and Chromecast devices. iOS users that have an Apple TV may simply mirror the content they see on their iOS mobile device to their television. Android users that have Chromecast have the ability to cast Hoopla Digital videos to their television using either their PC or IOS/Android mobile device. Those with neither an Apple TV or Chromecast device can simply connect their device to their television using an HDMI adapter.
What is Kids Mode?
Hoopla Kids Mode, is the gateway setting for accessing everything in this multi-format, children’s digital media experience. It’s the place where you, and kids, will be able to discover all the great hoopla kids content, with one swipe.
Kids Mode is very simple to active, once you are logged into your account, just click your email address in the upper right. Then click on the Kids Mode box, and scroll to the bottom and click update. Click here for a guide on how to activate kids mode.
