On Monday, August 21, 2017, a total eclipse of the Sun will be visible in the continental United States. This total eclipse will only be visible on a narrow track stretching across the United States from Oregon to South Carolina. No other country will get to see the total eclipse this time – Parts of the Lowcountry are in the direct path! This is the first total eclipse of the Sun visible from all 48 contiguous United States since 1979. Come celebrate this historical event with the Town of Moncks Corner, BCLS’s Mobile Library, and others. Representatives from Palmetto Scholars Academy and NASA will join us to do a balloon release in the park.
Stop into the mobile library and get your free glasses for safely viewing the total eclipse. Glasses will be given out on a first-come, first served basis.
