Live Look at the Sun: Preparing for the 2017 Solar Eclipse

On Monday, August 21, 2017, a total eclipse of the Sun will be visible in the continental United States. This total eclipse will only be visible on a narrow track stretching across the United States
from Oregon to South Carolina, and parts of the Lowcountry are in the direct path! No other country will get to see the total eclipse this time. This is the first total eclipse of the Sun visible from all 48 contiguous United States (excluding Alaska and Hawaii) since 1979. Join BCLS for this historical event.

Prof. Laura Penny, of College of CharlestonPhysics & Astronomy department, will present a program on the upcoming total solar eclipse which includes a special telescope to get a live look at the sun.
